Project 01
JobBridge
Job search service
JobBridge is a dedicated job search service that aims to bridge the gap between first-generation immigrants and their dream job opportunities. By providing a straightforward and supportive job search experience, JobBridge empowers first-generation immigrants to overcome barriers and find fulfilling careers that match their skills and aspirations.
Project duration:
August 2023 to September 2023
Project overview
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.
Responsibilities:
Role:
UX/UI designer
Problem:
Many immigrants face challenges in navigating a new job market, understanding local hiring practices, and connecting with employers.
Solution:
Design a JobBridge search service that solves problems by offering a user-friendly platform with tailored job listings, resume-building tools, interview resources, and connections to employers who value diversity.
User research
Adults who have moved to a new country and who are looking for job opportunities that match their expertise.
Primary group:
Results:
Most participants reported feeling bad about job hunting, because they are faced with difficulties in managing applications, overwhelming options by the sheer of job listings, and differing application process can be confusing and time-consuming, especially when users apply to numerous positions.
Persona 1: Carlos
Problem statement:
Carlos is a skilled finance professional who needs a platform that can streamline his job search process because the current disparities in job listings across different platforms, inefficient application processes, and unclear job details have left him frustrated and overwhelmed.
Persona 2: Maria
Problem statement:
Maria is a new immigrant in her late 20s who needs a platform that supports her transition to a career as a UX/UI designer because uncertainty in job listings for her new career path, and concerns about her qualifications in a different field have caused frustration and uncertainty in her job search journey.
User journey map
Mapping Carlos’s user journey revealed how helpful it would be for users to have access to a dedicated JobBridge search service.
Ideation
I did a quick ideation process to come up with ideas for how to address gaps identified in competitive audits.
My focus was chats and one-tap applications.
Digital wireframes
Low-fidelity prototype
Using the completed set of digital wireframes, I created a low-fidelity prototype. The primary user flow I connected was finding and applying for a job, so the prototype could be used in a usability study.

Usability study: findings
People wants easy access to filters
Create button for search filters:
Add responses status:
After applying for a job, users want to check the status of their application
Amount of applicants:
Users want to check their chances of getting a job
Mockups
Based on the insights from the usability studies, I applied design changes like providing a button for search filters.

Additional design changes included the addition of filters in the "responses" to check the application's status.

High-fidelity prototype
The final high-fidelity prototype presented cleaner user flows for finding a job.

With the app designs completed, I started to work on designing the responsive website.
I used the JobBridge sitemap to guide the organizational structure of each screen’s design to ensure a cohesive and consistent experience across devices.

Takeaways
The application gives users the feeling that JobBridge really helps to find a job faster and more clearly.

What I learned:
While designing the JobBridge app, I learned that the first ideas for the app are only the beginning of the process.
Usability studies and peer feedback influenced each iteration of the app’s designs.
